BMW Team Italia takes part in the Endurance and Sprint Series of the Italian GT3 Championship with the BMW M6 GT3 and in the Italian GT4 Championship with the BMW M4 GT4.

The professionalism shown by Ceccato Motors Racing Team and its staff in their first year of activity, combined with the great results on the racing tracks, convinced BMW to entrust the Padova-based team to organize a prestigious sporting program: fielding the young drivers of the BMW Motorsport Junior Program in the Italian GT Championship.

Thanks to Gianfranco Ceccato, owner of the Ceccato Motors Group dealerships and former rally driver, the Ceccato Motors Racing Team is born.

Thanks to Gianfranco Ceccato, owner of the Ceccato Motors Group dealerships and former rally driver, the Ceccato Motors Racing Team is born. The aim is to field in the Italian Gran Turismo Championship a BMW M6 GT3 prepared by the racing department of BMW Motorsport in Munich.

To be competitive, Gianfranco Ceccato involved in the organization two racing high-level experienced figures. Luigi Slongo, who in the eighties was the soul of the famous team Padua 4 Rombi in both rally and circuit, and Roberto Ravaglia, former official BMW driver whose palmar├Ęs include a World Tourism Championship title, two European, three Italian, and the German DTM championship, all won with the Bavarian company.

Luigi Slongo will be the Team Principal while Roberto Ravaglia will be the Team Manager.

In the first race of the season, at Monza, the team gets a significant third place.

Under the name of BMW Team Italia, the team participated in the Italian Gran Turismo Championship with a BMW M6 GT3 driven by Stefano Comandini.

In the first challenge of the season, at the Monza circuit, the team obtains a significant third place despite the short time available to fine-tune the car. Due to an accident, which damaged the BMW M6 GT3, BMW Team Italia was forced to miss the trip to the French circuit Paul Ricard. But at his return to the championship, on the Misano Adriatico track, Comandini and Bruno Spengler, scored another third place.

From then on for BMW Team Italia will be a sequence of performances of absolute value.

At Mugello Krohn and Comandini won the race with an overwhelming superiority and also got the fastest lap.

At Mugello, BMW Team Italia raced a perfect weekend. Comandini was joined by the young Finnish Jesse Krohn, official BMW Motorsport driver who immediately grabbed the pole position. Krohn and Comandini won the race with an overwhelming superiority and with the fastest lap.

Another excellent performance arrived again at Monza where the BMW Team Italia crew formed by Comandini and Max Koebolt climbed up to the third step of the podium.

The first season of the team ended at Mugello with an excellent result: the BMW M6 GT3 driven by Comandini and Koebolt almost reached the success finishing second.
