The BMW Team Italia drivers

Stefano Comandini and Marius Zug are the two BMW Team Italia drivers for the Italian Sprint GT3 Championship. They will be sided in the Endurance GT3 Championship by a factory driver from Munich.

Marius Zug, born on February 6th, 2003 in Germany, made his debut with karting in 2012 coming to the fore due to his great results. At 16 years of age, he made his debut in the German Championship in the BMW M4 GT4 taking second overall and winning the Junior Class. He came second in the Pro-Am category in the GT European Championship. In 2019 he has been named “Rookie of the year” by BMW Motorsport.

Stefano Comandini made his karting debut in 1991 and has been contesting several single-make championships from 1996 to 2011. In 2012 he made his debut in the Italian GT3 Championship. Stefano was Italian vice-champion in 2013 in the BMW Z4 GT3 and he won the Italian Super GT3 Championship in the BMW M6 GT3 in 2017. Last season he was vice-champion in the Italian GT3 Sprint and GT3 Endurance Championships.

Francesco Guerra and Simone Riccitelli are the two BMW Team Italia’s drivers of the Italian Sprint GT4 Championship. They will be joined by Nicola Neri in the four races of the Endurance GT4 Championship.

Simone Riccitelli was born on November 25th 2002 in Fabriano. He has been competing in karting from 2011 to 2016. At 16 years of age, in 2018, he made his debut in the Italian Sports Prototypes Championship taking P4 and winning the Under 25 classification. At the end of the year, he has been awarded at the Autosprint Golden Helmets event as one of the three best emerging drivers of the year. In 2019 he claimed the Italian GT4 Sprint Championship thanks to three wins. He joined the BMW GT4 drivers in 2020.

Francesco Guerra was born on June 9th, 1995. He started his career in motocross where he competed from 2010 to 2016. In 2017 and 2018 he successfully competed in several single-make championships. In 2019 he made his debut with the BMW M4 GT4 of BMW Team Italia and claimed second in the Italian GT4 Sprint Championship and third in the Italian GT4 Endurance Championship.

Nicola Neri was born on February 3rd 1980 in Brazil as an Italian citizen. He made his racing debut in 2015 in the Mitjet Championship. In 2017 he took part in the Italian GT4 Championship taking 4 wins and in 2018 he contested the Italian Sports Prototypes Championship. In 2019 he took part in three races of the Italian GT4 Endurance Championship winning the debut race in Misano. He joined the team of BMW GT4 drivers in 2020.
